The Bond Board is a charity working in Rochdale, Bolton and Greater Manchester, looking to reduce homelessness by minimising barriers and helping people on low incomes to get into private, rented accommodation. In their 25+ years of operation they have helped thousands of people out of homelessness and change their lives for the better.
Clare Gray kindly answered our questions for this Spotlight Interview, giving us and you a better understanding of her role as Team Leader within The Bond Board.
Name: Clare Gray
Job Title: Team Leader - Housing First
Charity: The Bond Board
City: Manchester (Rochdale, Bolton & Greater Manchester)
How did you start working for The Bond Board?
I was managing a large floating support homelessness service in North Wales and wanted to move back to Greater Manchester to be nearer home! I started working with the Bond Board in September 2019 and haven’t looked back since!
What is your favourite thing about working for The Bond Board?
The teamwork and the support. Being a small organisation I find it is easier (and quicker!) to get the support you need from colleagues who understand the local work and the current landscape.
How has lockdown / COVID-19 affected your day to day work?
I am mainly working from home but offering telephone support and urgent visits when required - following government guidelines and safe working practices. I’ve been just as busy working from home if not busier than when I’m in the office!
How has The Bond Board adapted to the current lockdown situation?
We are key workers so we quickly adapted our service offers to allow mainly remote support. We have refreshed all our risk assessments, Lone Working processes and H&S in the office including signage and core office cover.
What are the best ways people can help The Bond Board?
Help us to provide food and essential items via local donations. We are also accepting any offers of PPE equipment to enable us to continue to work safely in the community.
You can provide The Bond Board with crucial PPE or purchase much needed items for them via their own charity shop here. They urgently need hand sanitiser, soap and shower gel at the moment, so purchases of these will be particularly appreciated! Just pop The Bond Board into the notes section at checkout and we'll make sure your donations are delivered directly to their door.
What is your top tip for dealing with boredom during lockdown?
TikTok! Or a more healthy option of spending time connecting remotely with family & friends or going for a walk and getting some fresh air!
Thank you Clare, for the insight into your work with The Bond Board! They have recently had a fantastic new website designed, that you can check out here.
